About
Having grown up on a musical diet of blues, jazz, and American roots music, Chris Adkins moved from his home in St. Augustine, Florida to soak up the music of one the most important music cities in America, New Orleans. While attending the University of New Orleans on a full graduate assistantship, he was asked by Maria Muldaur (known for her hit, "Midnight At the Oasis") to tour in her band. He joined her on tours over the next several years including a tour supporting her Stony Plain Release, Steady Love.
Chris has had the pleasure of backing up many respected artists including Irma Thomas, Dr. John, John Sebastian, John Boutte, Roland Guerin, Al "Carnival Time" Johnson, Marcia Ball, Steve Masakowski, Wes "Warmdaddy" Anderson, and many other great musicians. Chris has performed all over the US with engagements also taking him to Asia, Europe and Canada. He can be heard regularly with the band Gal Holiday, and he maintains an active teaching studio, both in person in New Orleans and via Skype.
Chris earned a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from the University of North Florida in 2006 and a Master of Music in Jazz Studies from the University of New Orleans in 2011. At 色色研究所, Chris teaches applied lessons and the non-major guitar class.
