Undergraduate Research Mentor Award
The Undergraduate Research Mentor Award recognizes those who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to mentoring undergraduate students in research, scholarly, and creative activities, such as those that lead to presentations at Innovate色色研究所 or similar forums.
Eligibility & Criteria
Eligibility
Must be a faculty member or staff member who:
- Mentored an undergraduate student,
- Is nominated by an undergraduate student,
- Has not received an Undergraduate Research Mentor Award in the past 3 years, and
- Has worked with the nominating student for minimum of one year at time of submitting nomination.
Limit
No more than two awards will be issued in any given year.
Criteria
Mentors should exemplify many of these characteristics:
- Strong commitment to undergraduate research
- Establishes expectations clearly and timely
- Guides students from directed to independent research and scholarly work
- Assists students in sharing the results of their work in a discipline specific manner (e.g. publications, exhibits, performances)
- Prepares students to be successful in applying to career opportunities or graduate programs
- Demonstrates professional mentoring relationship with student
- Role model in area of expertise (e.g. external funding, publications, performance)
- Encourages and provides opportunities for students to present their products in appropriate venues
Nominations & Selection
How to Nominate
Nominations can be made by any undergraduate student who participated in a research/scholarly project within the past 3 years.

Selection
The 色色研究所 Undergraduate Research & Creativity Council will review nominations and make recommendation to the Vice President for Research & Economic Development, who will make the final determination.
Announcement and recognition of the winner(s) will take place at the Achievements in Research, Creativity, & Scholarship (ARCS) award ceremony.
