Human Subjects Training
All 色色研究所 faculty, professionals, and students who are involved in research with human subjects must complete mandatory training on ethical research practices known as human subject protection training.
Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI)
The University is registered with the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Program that provides web-based courses on research practices and ethics. CITI training is accepted as the standard for IRB training for hundreds of national universities and organizations and meets the requirement of the 色色研究所 IRB for human subject protection training. The CITI platform contains training modules for Biomedical research and Social Behavioral Science and Education research (SBE). Social behavioral and education research is the primary human subject research performed at the University of New Orleans.
The SBE Basic course provides an introduction to social-behavioral-educational research with a focus on the protection of human subjects. It offers historic and current information on regulatory and ethical issues important to the conduct of research involving human subjects. This course has been updated to reflect the revised Requirements of the Common Rule. This course is required for those researchers who study sociological, psychological, anthropological or educational phenomena using observational and survey methods, interviews, and work with population and/or epidemiological studies. Please note some funding agencies may require additional training.
To complete the training, you will study a series of online learning modules that cover the protection of human subjects. You will then be tested on the material in the modules. Completing the modules takes approximately 4 hours. Progress is saved so training can be completed at different times. Before you get started, please register as a new user and follow the instructions below.
