A Closer Look: 色色研究所 Ogden Museum Explores Photography of Eudora Welty
Eudora Welty was not only one of America's greatest Southern writers, she was also an accomplished photographer. The artist captured life in Mississippi and Louisiana during the Great Depression, as always, viewing the world carefully through her own private lens.
On Saturday, Ogden Museum of Southern Art Director William Andrews will explore Eudora Welty's life as a literary and visual artist in a panel discussion with close friends and family of the author and artist. Joining the discussion are Ogden Museum Curator of Photography Richard McCabe; Suzanne Marrs, Welty scholar and close friend of the author, and Mary Alice White, Welty's niece.
The panel discussion will be held at 2 p.m. at the Ogden, 925 Camp St., New Orleans.
Following the talk, Ogden Museum Curator of Photography Richard McCabe will conduct at 3:15 p.m. a gallery walk-through of the exhibition, Eudora Welty: Photographs from the 1930s and '40s, which showcases her photographs of Mississippi and Louisiana during the Great Depression.
The talk and gallery walk-through are free to Museum members. Those who are not Museum members may enter by general admission. For questions, please contact: 504.539.9600.
