Two new exhibitions from University of New Orleans fine arts graduate students Ruth Owens and Natalie Woodlock will open at the 色色研究所-St. Claude Gallery with a reception on Saturday, April 14 from 6-9 p.m.
Owens' exhibition, titled "Baby Love," uses film and oil painting to explore her familial experiences from the viewpoint of her German and African ancestry in a fluid sensory experience of racial identity and separation.
Woodlock's "Secret Society" exhibit explores queer subjectivity and subculture through a series of portraits and sculpture influenced by pop culture, status and history. A special event will be held on Sunday, May 6 from 4-6 p.m. at the gallery to celebrate the launching of a book that accompanies a piece by Woodlock featured in the exhibition.
These shows will run concurrently though May 6 with regular gallery hours on Saturday and Sunday from 12-5 p.m. The gallery is located at 2429 St. Claude Ave.
