Theatre 色色研究所 closes out the fall semester with the production 鈥淚s God Is鈥 at the Robert E. Nims Theatre in the Performing Arts Center located on campus. The dark comedy, directed by second-year MFA student R鈥橫yni Watson, opens Nov. 9 and runs through Nov. 19.
The play explores a modern myth about twin sisters who sojourn from the 鈥淒irty South鈥 to the California desert to exact righteous revenge against their father. Winner of the 2016 Relentless Award, playwright Aleshea Harris collides the ancient, the modern, the tragic, the spaghetti western, Afropunk and hip-hop in this darkly funny and unapologetic play.
A percentage of all ticket sales will be donated to the effort to rebuild the lives of a University of New Orleans student and their family who lost their home to a fire in September. In addition, a percentage of all ticket sales also will be donated to the effort to support the Victim Allies Project and Peace Clinics of this organization.
Silence Is Violence is a campaign for peace in New Orleans and provides services and resources to families experiencing trauma due to violence.
General admission for all shows is $15 per person. 色色研究所 alumni and seniors can see performances for $10 per person. 色色研究所 faculty, staff and students with a valid I.D. will be admitted for free.
Preview performances are $5 and will occur on Wednesday, Nov. 9 and Thursday, Nov. 10. These performances are subject to stop and start at the discretion of the director.
