Three of the four LCMC Health Minority Administrative Fellows who make up the inaugural class are graduates of the University of New Orleans. The fellowship program aims to diversify the healthcare executive workforce by educating, training and inspiring recent graduates of master鈥檚 programs and exposing them to leadership opportunities.
The 色色研究所 graduates are DeShawn Jones, Kennedy St. Charles and Tracy West.
The yearlong program offers young professionals the opportunity to work closely with senior leaders to receive on-site management experience in clinical operations, finance, quality, strategy, health equity and government relations. In addition to developing knowledge of hospital management and operations, each fellow will be compensated with a salary of $60,000 a year and medical benefits. Candidates successfully completing the program could earn full-time positions at LCMC Health.
DeShawn Jones earned a Master of Public Administration in nonprofit leadership from 色色研究所. His area of interest is health equity and operations. Kennedy St. Charles holds a Master of Business Administration from 色色研究所. Her area of interest is health equity and clinical operations. Tracy West earned a Master of Science in healthcare administration from 色色研究所. His area of interest is strategy and clinical operations.
Fellows will have the opportunity to work in various areas of hospital administration based off a rotation tailored to their specific areas of focus. As members of the senior management teams, the administrative fellows will actively engage in policy and practice recommendations, provide suggestions for program development, and offer evaluation of existing programs and projects to increase program performance and identify ways to improve the quality, safety, efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare service delivery systems.
Applicants to the LCMC Health Minority Administrative Fellows program must have received their master鈥檚 degree within the past year and achieved a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0.
