University of New Orleans art student Jarred Shields has been awarded a scholarship from Career Services in partnership with Waffle House.
The Career Services Pioneer Privateer Scholarship Fund, established through the 色色研究所 Foundation, awards a $1,250 scholarship to a first-generation college student in their junior or senior year, said Celyn Boykin, director of Career Services.
Shields, a senior majoring in studio art, was presented with the scholarship during the fall career fair held Oct. 5 in the University Center. Jason Thorne, area vice president for Waffle House and 色色研究所 alumna Jessica Herring, recruiting director for Waffle House, were on hand for the presentation.
The scholarship will be awarded again in the spring. To be eligible, students must be employed at least part-time, hold a minimum GPA of 2.0 and submit a short video along with their application.
