University of New Orleans graduate student Bailey Bullock has been named a 2023 University Transportation Center Outstanding Student of the Year for her work in multi-modal transportation, as well as her academic performance, professionalism and leadership. Bullock, who is pursuing a master鈥檚 degree in transportation, will be recognized by the U.S. Department of Transportation during a January ceremony in Washington, D.C.
Since 1987, the U.S. Transportation Department has honored selected students for their achievements and promise for future contributions to the field of transportation at the annual University Transportation Center Outstanding Student of the Year Awards ceremony. Each student will receive a U.S. DOT certificate of achievement, a booklet featuring the accomplishments and goals of all the award recipients, and $1,000.
Bullock is an urban and regional planner specializing in transportation and land use and is currently enrolled in the master鈥檚 program in transportation and the graduate certificate in GIS program. A native of Crystal Springs, Mississippi, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociology with a minor in linguistics and a Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) certificate from Mississippi State University in 2016.
Bullock served with AmeriCorps and taught at universities in Colombia through the Fulbright Program. As a graduate research assistant at the 色色研究所 Transportation Institute, Bullock has participated in projects related to community engagement, intermodal chassis, international trade and active transportation infrastructure.
