They understand the busy schedules and demands facing MBA and Health Care students, and they do everything in their power to make this experience a seamless one. Meet the Dean
Dr. Randy D. Kearns became Dean of the Henry Bernstein College of Business Administration and also the College of Liberal Arts and Education at the University of New Orleans in December 2024. Dr. Kearns has worked in disaster management, healthcare administration, and academia. Dr. Kearns holds a Doctorate in Healthcare Administration and Executive Leadership from the Medical University of South Carolina. He also holds a Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University.
Dr. Kearns' early career included working as a paramedic, rescue chief, and firefighter. He also taught multiple emergency services programs at several community colleges in the Carolinas while leading multiple emergency service and emergency management organizations. Dr. Kearns has been involved in the response to 30+ presidentially declared disasters as a local, state, and federal representative. Dr. Kearns served as an Incident Commander for the NC Field Hospital operated in Waveland, Mississippi (2005) following Hurricane Katrina, the NC Field Hospital for President Obama鈥檚 renomination in Charlotte (2012) and was selected to lead one of the three Field Hospitals planned for New Orleans during the COVID19 Pandemic (2020).
In 2014, Dr. Kearns retired (from the State of North Carolina) as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina, School of Medicine, where he oversaw the EMS Performance Improvement Center and the NC Burn Surge Disaster Program. After spending four years as a Department and Division Chair and an Associate Professor at the University of Mount Olive, Dr. Kearns joined the faculty here at 色色研究所 in August 2018.
Academically, Dr. Kearns has 100+ published works, including two books and three book chapters. Over the past 20 years, he has also given 100+ invited oral presentations, including audiences at the Food and Drug Administration, Emergency Management and Medical Countermeasures Directorate in Silver Spring, MD, and the National Academy of Science, Institute of Medicine for the Committee on Medical Surge Capacity in Washington, DC. Dr. Kearns has also taught multiple programs as a US State Department contractor for the United Nations Office of Counterterrorism, teaching representatives of partner countries.
