Master of Business Administration
Traditional Track
The MBA Program, fully accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB), is designed to prepare students for superior managerial positions in both the private and public sectors. Students are provided with broad preparation in business administration while being allowed to focus on a variety of concentrations in specific business areas. A student can pursue an MBA Degree on a full-time basis or a part-time basis.
Master of Business Administration Curriculum
The MBA Program is designed to satisfy the needs of students with or without undergraduate degrees in business administration. For those with an undergraduate degree in business administration, the MBA program curriculum is composed of 33 hours of advanced core courses (6000 level).
Foundation (preparatory) courses are required for those students without an undergraduate degree in business administration. These foundation courses, consisting of 9 additional credit hours, are intended to provide the background needed by students with degrees in areas other than business for successful study at the graduate level. All foundation (5400-level) courses may be waived for AACSB business undergraduates, with a grade of 鈥淐鈥 or better. The 5400-level foundation courses are not counted as graduate credit and must be taken before any of the graduate-level courses.
Throughout the MBA Program, the emphasis is placed on the development of problem-solving and decision-making abilities. To that end, illustrative cases and business simulation are utilized in the classroom in conjunction with traditional lecture techniques. The MBA program capstone, 鈥淪eminar in Business Policies,鈥 integrates the functions of all fields of business administration. Taken in a student鈥檚 final semester, the course emphasizes strategy development and implementation and is designed to give students the top management viewpoint of the operation of a business enterprise.
