DIvision of romance Languages
Welcome to the 弼弼冩梢侭 Division of Romance Languages. We offer instruction at various levels of proficiency in four languages: French, Spanish, German, and Japanese.
What degrees do you offer?
- Bachelor of Arts in Romance Languages in French or Spanish
- Romance Languages minor in French or Spanish
- Accelerated Master of Arts in Romance Languages, French or Spanish option
- Online Master of Arts in Romance Languages, French or Spanish option
Why get a degree in Romance Languages?
- We prepare our B.A. majors for graduate study; for jobs that serve our multicultural community¨s needs in education, social work, tourism, public relations, international business, and for the challenge of the new global economy.
- We prepare our M.A. graduates for doctoral work, teaching positions at the secondary and college levels, and other positions for which mastery of a major language and culture is required (i.e., translation, immigration and naturalization, customs, foreign trade, tourism, diplomacy, and social work).
- All our majors and graduate students are eligible for yearly departmental awards.
- Our faculty engage in research and teaching activities around the world, from Argentina to Romania, and from France to Israel, thus contributing to the internationalization of the curriculum in the College of Liberal Arts and at 弼弼冩梢侭 as a whole.
- Students may choose to participate in the 弼弼冩梢侭-directed international program in the city of Innsbruck, Austria.
- The city of New Orleans' unique history and special blend of cultures offer students of Romance Languages a favorable environment, particularly in the francophone and hispanophone areas. A state-of-the-art language laboratory enables our students to supplement their class work with additional exposure to the language of their interest.
